The polls: Tories close in on majority

New polls published today give the Conservatives a lead, with one suggesting David Cameron may have a wafer-thin majority come May 7th.
A ComRes poll for the Independent and ITV said the Conservatives have dropped a point of support to go to 37%, with the Liberal Democrats also dropping a point to 27% and Labour gaining one to reach 28%.
Although this would not be enough for a majority on a uniform swing, analysis of Labour/Conservative marginals suggests the battleground swing to the Conservatives may be enough to give the Tories a very thin, single-figure majority.
Other polls point clearly to a hung parliament. The daily YouGov/Sun Tracker has the Tories up one on 35% with Labour and the Lib Dems tied on 28%, Nick Clegg’s party gaining a point.
For the Daily Express, an Opinium poll suggests the Tories have lost a point to go to 33%, Labour pick up three points to go second on 28% and the Lib Dems lose one to sit at 27%.
Both those results would see the Conservatives short of a majority by more than 50 seats.
