General election 2010: Exit polls suggest hung parliament
By Aled Thomas
The first exit poll indicates a hung parliament with the Conservatives the largest party – but 19 seats short of a majority.
The BBC’s exit poll suggests that the Conservatives will win 307 seats, Labour 255 seats and the Liberal Democrats 59. NOP and Mori polled 18,000 voters at 130 stations across the country to get the projection.
Other parties may have won 29 seats if the poll is correct.
A party needs 326 seats to form a majority government.
