Prescott fails in Labour treasurer bid

John Prescott has failed in his bid to become Labour party treasurer.
The former prime minister conceded defeat with a message on Twitter in which he congratulated trade unionist Diana Holland.
“Congratulations to Diana Holland on being elected Treasurer. Let’s all get behind her and help solve our financial problems,” he wrote.
Lord Prescott was given a place in the House of Lords following the departure of Gordon Brown.
