Milton: NHS listening exercise ‘is for real’

Health minister Anne Milton spoke at the RCN conference yesterday, defending the reforms:
“This is for real.
“Andrew Lansley wants to hear how it works on the ground.
“”The general principle that we have got to change is, I think, generally accepted.
“This won’t be just a bunch of GPs in the driving seat – we want to use nurses’ experience.
“If you grasp the challenge, nurses will have the central role that patients want and patients need.
“Difficult deals will have to be made – and pay restraint is one of those difficult areas.”
