Trevor Kavanagh: Newspapers operate within the law
Trevor Kavanagh, associate editor at the Sun, has defended the newspaper industry on the day that the Leveson inquiry into press ethics and practices begun.
Mr Kavanagh told the Today programme that "newspapers, by and large, live by the letter of the law".
He added that he felt tabloid representation at the inquiry was "insufficient".
"With such a very large part of the newspaper industry unrepresented, I think there is a risk that it will not look at the whole picture," Mr Kavanagh argued.
