The Week in Westminster: 11-15 February 2013
With Michael Gove’s ears still burning from being made to stand at the front of the class with his hands behind his back following his humiliating EBacc u-turn, the Annual Ofsted Report, due to be given by Sir Michael Wilshaw and John Goldup next Wednesday morning, will be quite an important performance indicator for the education policy talking heads.
The Tuesday afternoon Home Affairs select committee on leadership and standards in the police should provoke interest from all sides of the political spectrum. The police have had a lot of bad press of late, from phone-hacking, to Hilsborough, to Andrew Mitchell. There will also be an adjournment on Monday in the House of Commons about police violence at hunts.
An adjournment put forward by Roger Williams MP on reforming the common agricultural policy on Tuesday will also be worth a watch, if only to see which of the most excitable Eurosceptics get the wildest look in the eyes when discussing it.
