Labour furious after government reject no confidence vote
Following news the resigning prime minister Boris Johnson will remain in office until September, Labour have tabled a motion of no confidence today to speed up the process.
In an unprecedented move, Number 10 rejected the motion, causing Labour’s Thangam Debbonaire to raise a point of order regarding this “outrageous breach of convention”.
Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans reinforced the knowledge that the Chair cannot impact the matter which is for the government but said that he “would anticipate further discussion” in the final seven days of parliament’s current session.
