OK so we're cheating a bit. McNulty is no longer an MP, but his brand of PMQs analysis is good enough to merit a mention on this list. The former minister has slowly developed a loyal following on Twitter, as he grows in confidence online. His honest remarks on strategy provide an important new angle on the weekly scrap between Ed Miliband and David Cameron. McNulty has a keen eye for what works and what doesn't in the chamber and he isn't afraid to speak his mind. "A very bad session for Labour – pre-recess #pmqs should have been all about our issues – NHS, economy, jobs, schools, cost of living, life," he wrote after the last PMQs. "Crosby is an important issues, but a village issue until there's a 'smoking gun' memo. EdM needs to use #pmqs as conversation with public." And then, in case you thought it was all too serious: "I have yet to see a male MP look anything but dreadful in these white/beige/cream/brown summer suits." He's even liable to quote a bit of Percy Bysshe Shelley, when he's in the mood, giving the account a somewhat eclectic feel. Gruff, confrontational and occasionally wise, this is quickly becoming a vital account for politicos online.
